Mom Tips: Love of God Week One

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit…” John 15:5

The Wise Woman Builds Her Spirit!

  • Get a pad of spiral-bound index cards to keep at your kitchen sink and download a voice recording app on your phone. These tools will be used frequently to help you memorize Scripture.
  • Buy a new journal or notebook from the store. Dedicate it as a place to jot down what you are thankful for as you go throughout your days. Even if you only add one or two items a day, you will fill the pages over time! Every so often, come back to it and be reminded of how God is working in your life! Allow your family to get in on it too!

The Wise Woman Loves Her Husband!

  • Ask your husband how you can pray for him this week. Is he experiencing challenges at work? Can you commit to praying for these challenges to help ease his burden? Remember to listen with an open heart when he shares his concerns with you.
  • As a couple, go online to find a love language test to learn how each of you receives love differently. Ask your husband how you can exhibit love toward him and put these ideas into action. Most importantly, be willing to learn when you don’t understand his perspective.

The Wise Woman Loves Her Children!

  • When you say goodnight to your children this week tell them something that they did well. Help them see the gifts God has given them that they use naturally during their day. This encourages your children to know that God is moving in their lives today, not just once they “grow up.” Read 1 Timothy 4:12 to show them that they can be an example even to you!
  • Consider adding a devotion time with your kids (any age!) this week. Gather a Bible or children’s devotional book and some paper (to illustrate what is being read). Have fun together by reading God’s Word, acting it out, praying together and for each other, learning a short Bible verse by making up silly actions to go along with it, singing, and talking about the questions your kids have or what God is doing in their lives. Do as much or as little as you want; every bit counts! Have fun! This is a new habit worth forming with your children!

The Wise Woman Cares For Her Home!

  • Make your bed first thing this week, as soon as you wake up. An easy way to get started is to make one side at a time. Simple, intentional tasks always start the day on a positive note.
  • Do the “15-minute pick up” with your children right before your husband comes home. Set a timer for 15 minutes; pick up everything that is out of place and put it away. Focus on the shared living areas of your home and have everyone help. Bless your husband with a picked up house.

  1. Could you recommend a family devotional or study to do with teens? We’ve gotten out of the habit as our two have gotten older. (14 year old boy and 16 year old girl)
