Mom to Mom with Rae-Ellen

Dear Sister,
I hope your summer has been fun so far! I am excited that you are nurturing your soul with The Wise Woman Stays studies and being encouraged to keep God first in your life!

The summer months tend to go by so quickly, don’t they? It’s summer vacation for the kids after all. You’re probably super busy hustling them here and there. It’s easy to be preoccupied and satisfied with bare minimums when life is demanding. Summertime can easily become the stretch when we let our daily devotions and time with God fall to the wayside. Don’t forget to stoke up the flames of your faith!

I once was a flip flop wearing mama. Sand in my car was an everyday occurrence, or rather a nuisance. We lived 30 minutes from the ocean, and I remember the first summer we moved to the mountains… We were so cold that we didn’t turn the air conditioning on once, even in the heat of a Colorado summer! In fact, the summer we relocated across country, there were forest fires due to how dry it was, but we were freezing! It’s interesting how our bodies adapt to where we live. Four years later, we now consider 55 degrees warm in the winter, 80 degrees hot, a sunny 34-degree day bearable, and 68 degrees just perfect! Instead of sand and beach toys, I now tote an extra jacket, water bottles, and granola bars!

No matter where you live, you eventually adapt to your environment, we all do. The question is: what kind of spiritual environment are you living in? How comfortable or complacent have you become in your walk with the Lord?

The Bible says in Revelation 3:15-16, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”

Allow the book of Revelation to wake you up and give you a reality check in your spirit for where you are—hot, cold, or perhaps lukewarm? Maybe you need to start a new routine of putting Christ first in your life. Make a decision today to make the most out of the rest of the summer. Be set apart to become a hot mama for Jesus!

Blessings and love,
Rae-Ellen Sanders and the Help Club for Moms Team

“Put your nose into the Bible every day. It is your spiritual food. And then share it. Make a vow not to be a lukewarm Christian.” Kirk Cameron
