Identity in Christ- Mom Tips

by

“The wise woman builds her house.” Proverbs 14:1a

The Mommy Tips are meant to enhance your life and role as a Christian wife, mom, discipler of your children, homemaker, and friend.

Take two weeks to work through this list. Please remember, just do what you can. Put the list on your refrigerator, and check them off as you do them. :)

You can also do more than what is suggested. You do you!  We all are in different stages of our lives.

We understand that some of you may only have time for one Mommy Tip in the two-week period, and some of you may be able to do more.

Simply pray about which Mommy Tips to do and do only those. Do what you can and celebrate the fact that you added something new to enhance your life! :)

Do you ever get so busy that you forget to clean? Well, I have! In fact, this morning I stepped inside my shower and started to smell a rather interesting smell, and then I asked myself, “When WAS the last time this shower was cleaned?” Obviously a LONG time ago!

I knew I had a super busy day and was tempted to put the cleaning off, but then I decided to clean the shower as fast as I could for 15 minutes. I’m happy to say that I cleaned my whole shower in that little span of time! Yay! No more icky smell!

Sometimes, I think we can spend a lot of time thinking about cleaning something, and never getting around to it because it seems like the job is going to take too long, when actually, we can get a lot of cleaning accomplished in a short span of 15 minutes. For the next two weeks, we are going to practice cleaning some area of your home each week, for three times a week. Before you know it, you will have a new habit and your house will be much cleaner!

Also, keep working on being consistent with laundry, meals, and planning your week ahead of time.

1. For the next 2 weeks, do some type of cleaning for 15 minutes, 3 days a week. Here are some examples of 15-minute jobs you can do:

Dust one room Sweep the kitchen floor Wipe out the fridge
Vacuum one room  Fold and put away one load of laundry Sweep the pantry
Empty Garbage cans Clean off your desk (stop at 15 minutes) Clean a shower

Week One–  Day 1______ Day 2______ Day 3______

Week Two– Day 1______ Day 2______ Day 3______

2. Print out the weekly plan sheet. Pray for the Lord’s wisdom as you plan your week. Done:______

3. Put a load of laundry in first thing in the morning 2 days each week. (Or you can do more)

Week One– Day 1______ Day 2______    Week Two– Day 1______ Day 2______

4. Know what’s for dinner by 9 am 2 days each week. Set your meat out to defrost. If you have time, chop your veggies.

Week One– Day 1______ Day 2______    Week 2– Day 1______ Day 2______

5. Keep working on your prayer binder for 2 days each week, but keep it short, only 15 minutes. (Remember, you can simply put you prayers on your phone too!)

Week One– Day 1______ Day 2______    Week Two– Day 1______ Day 2______

6. There is definitely something different about a house filled with the presence of God! Set aside a time in the next two weeks to pray a blessing over your house. Gather your family and friends, and simply pray a prayer of blessing and dedication for your home. Ask the Lord to fill your home with His presence, and to use your home to further His kingdom. Pray for God’s peace over each room in your house and that every person who walks in your home, especially your family, will feel the presence of God! Celebrate with a fun game night and simple dessert! Take lots of pictures!   Done:______

7. Write this simple memory verse on your children’s bathroom mirror in dry erase marker. Or better yet, let your children help you.   Done:______

“Sing to the Lord a new song,  for he has done marvelous things” Psalm 98: 1(a).

Talk to your children about the fact that God loves to hear them sing songs of worship to Him!  Sing songs with your children. There are many children’s praise CD’s that you can listen to in your car. (It’s so much better for your children to listen to Bible/Worship CD’s than the radio:) Our favorites are the “Wee Sing Bible Songs.” Both of our children came to Christ while listening to this CD:)

8. Keep listening to your three memory verses on your phone this week, several times a day. Done:______

9. Write a note to your mom and mother-in-law this week telling them one thing you appreciate about them. If this is awkward, pray and ask God to help it not be. Ask Him to help you to know what to say, and have the courage to say it,  even if it feels weird. Remember, God honors those who are humble! Proverbs 29:23.

10. On Saturday, take a moment and plan out your menus for next week and your shopping list. Get your shopping done and chop all of your vegetables for the week ahead of time. List your meals here:
