“The wise woman builds her house.” Proverbs 14:1a

The Mom Tips are meant to enhance your life and role as a Christian wife, mom, discipler of your children, homemaker, and friend.

Pray about which ideas to try and keep this list on your fridge all week. Check them off as you accomplish them. Complete all of the Mom Tips or pick one to finish. We all are in different stages of our lives. You do you!

Do what you can and celebrate the fact that you added something new to enhance your life!

The Wise Woman Builds Her Spirit:

  • Make time to spend at least 15 minutes a day praying and reading your Bible. Take a moment, and list 5 things you are thankful for and thank God for all of the ways He shows love to you and your family.
  • Be sure to complete each of the three Help Club for Moms Bible studies this week!

The Wise Woman Loves Her Husband:

  • Pick a night and take some time to sit down with your husband after your children have gone to bed. Be sure to tell him what all you appreciate and admire about him.
  • This Thanksgiving, show love to your husband by loving his family. Be patient with them. Forgive. Be kind. Expect the best. If you are with them at Thanksgiving, be sure to tell them that you love and appreciate them. If you are not in a good relationship with them at this time, pray for your husband’s family then call or send a note in the mail to tell them something you appreciate about them. Everyone can find ONE thing nice to say about someone. Do this act of kindness for your Lord and Savior, Jesus. He will be well pleased. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9.

The Wise Woman Loves Her Children:

Have a Thank-Ful Week!

  • Make a list of things you are thankful for about each of your children.  Set a simple breakfast table, (even if you are just eating cereal) light a candle, and read your list out loud to each child on Thanksgiving morning.
  • After your Thanksgiving guests have arrived and settled in, have someone pass around pens and strips of paper. Ask everyone to write down something they are grateful for and place answers in a basket. Later in the evening, pass the basket around and have people randomly choose a paper to read out loud. It’s always more fun to read someone else’s than your own. If you want, you can guess who wrote down what!
  •  Create a Thanksgiving journal that can be added to each year. Pass it around the Thanksgiving table each year and have your guests record what they are thankful for. This makes beautiful “thankful” memories for years!
  • This week, make a special effort to pray over each child each night. Pray and thank God for the special gifts He has placed inside each of your children. It takes only a few minutes and will change both your life and theirs!

The Wise Woman Cares For Her Home:

  • Clean out your refrigerator to prepare for Thanksgiving leftovers.
  • Save time and have easy mashed potatoes by cooking them a day or two in advance. Prepare the potatoes then put them in a casserole dish. When the big day arrives, bake them in the oven to have piping hot potatoes with less time.  You can do that with most casseroles too!
  • Want to have a delicious, hot breakfast for your guests without slaving in the kitchen for hours while they are waiting around for you? Make homemade bread or cinnamon rolls BEFORE your guests come into town and freeze them!  Simply set them out of the freezer the night before to thaw (covered with plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray) and warm them up uncovered in the oven the next morning. Then, throw together some eggs and bake some bacon in the oven and you have a great delicious meal with minimal effort!

Bonus Thanksgiving Craft Idea! Make a keepsake Thanksgiving table runner to add to each year. Buy a solid, light colored table runner, bright colored acrylic craft paint (found at Walmart or a craft store), thick paint brushes, and a permanent marker. Be sure to have baby wipes or a washcloth on hand for easy clean up. Use a paint brush to paint each child’s hand and quickly press it onto the table runner. Make sure to add the child’s name and year under each handprint with a permanent marker.  You can even use a permanent marker to embellish the hand print to look like a turkey (eye, beak, gobbler and legs).

Have your children add handprints each year, and watch how they grow!
