The Challenge of Taking Every Thought Captive

“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” Philippians 4:4

Have you ever met another mom who was so full of joy that she radiated Jesus? I’ve had the pleasure of knowing such a woman, she just oozed a contented spirit, and of course I wanted the same joy she wore like a garment of praise! Her joy was that contagious!

As Christians, we should be shining like a light on a hill (Matthew 5:14-15), beckoning others to ask us what makes us different from the rest of the world! In today’s lesson, Tommy shared that living a life of joy should be our goal and that our actions will speak louder than our words. He mentions that it is our responsibility to demonstrate joy and draw others to the Kingdom of God! Sister, it is our privilege to make our joy known!

Are you living with this kind of joy? You might say, “Well, if my circumstances were different, if I didn’t have a crying baby who kept me up all night, or if I didn’t have a difficult child, a demanding job, struggling marriage or more money to pay the bills… then I would smile more and be more joyful.”  Mom despite our current situation, the Bible tells us to rejoice in the Lord always!

Tommy points out that JOY needs to be developed.  So be graceful to yourself sister, exemplifying joy when everything is NOT perfect is an evident sign of spiritual maturity.  We can take steps to be thankful for the little things even in our lack and find restoration of our joy through gratitude but we can also enter God’s presence and reflect His joy by spending time with Him. Moses’ face shone with such brilliance after being in the presence of God that he had to wear a veil!

“When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord.”  Exodus 34:29

Mama, despite your current situation, it’s God’s will for us to be joy-filled and to radiate His love!

Blessings and love,

JOY-FILLED IDEA

  •  Ask God to remind you of a time when you did not reflect His joy with your actions. Confess your sin and ask your Heavenly Father to fill you with abundant joy so that it overflows into your future actions and words. Do you know what looks irresistible to the rest of the world that is watching us? True Joy!

MOM TIP

  • Say, “Good Morning” and “Hello” to all of your family members every time they enter the room. We often overlook those that are closest to us. Remember to smile when you see your loved ones!  Your joy will be contagious!
