15/5 Challenge Day 15

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” JOHN 1:1-5

In this short passage of Scripture, God is directing us to His book (the Bible) as the story of God in the world, not just the story of one character in one place and time. He was, is, and always will be. He is the Word made flesh. All of creation is alive because the Word of God breathed life into it. The Word of God breathed life into us too! When people hear God’s words, it changes them from the inside out. That happens because He knitted us together and knows our innermost being! Who He is penetrates the deepest places of our hearts. Nothing escapes God’s view, and His Word will stand until the end of time. Our hearts can take comfort in knowing that darkness can never overcome the light of Jesus. It is too bright and powerful!

  1. This is such a powerful set of versus! I feel like this is a perfect example of the great mysteries of our faith. The Word explains that these mysteries have been revealed and made known to us the saints–the believers! Our Faith is squarely built on Jesus’ life, death, and Resurrection. Colossians 1:25-27 sums up this disclosure of the mystery to the saints very well! In verse 26 Paul says, “the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations but is now disclosed to the saints.” It is so true that the Word exposes so many Truths to us who believe and John 1:1-5 defines the origin of the Word! So beautiful!
