Jesus is the Only Soulmate You Will Ever Need

Dear Mama,

Marriage is such a beautiful gift from the Lord! But our fleshly hearts sometimes make a mess of beautiful gifts. Nagging notions of worry that we may not have married the right man can creep into our minds and begin to take hold of our thoughts. We wonder if perhaps we were too young, have changed too much, don’t get along as well as we used to, or didn’t know each other well enough from the start. We can begin to doubt that our husband is really our “soulmate.”

Sister, may I speak some kind words of wisdom from a fellow mama who has been married a decade and a half and has had a mix of both good years and hard? Let me tell you this…when you married your husband, he became the right one for you! He is the one that you are meant to spend the rest of your life learning to love the way Jesus loves you.

You do not have to wonder anymore if God had something better for you. Your husband is God’s best for you right now and for the remainder of your days on this earth. If you will allow Him, our loving Father will gently use your marriage to show you His love, to refine you, and to make you into the beautiful daughter of the King that He intended you to be.

God wants to use you in your husband’s life to teach him about the love of Christ. You are a messenger of the Gospel of peace to your husband. But guess what this requires: dying to yourself. Do you want to live your best life? Do you want to have the best marriage? You are going to have to die to who you have been in order to grow into the woman God wants you to be. But the most wonderful news is that He will hold your hand and carry you every step of the way.

Sister, look to the Lord today. He is the only “soulmate” you will ever need! Ask Him to show you the ways He wants you to grow in your walk with Him and follow Him in your marriage. Pray that God would replace your fleshly heart with His pure heart of love, compassion, and forgiveness for your husband. Pray that God would show you how to love your husband in the way Christ loves you. I promise, when you walk in this way, there is so much joy and peace ahead!! He has beautiful plans for you and your marriage!

With love in Christ,
