Mom to Mom with Jennifer

Dear Sister in Christ,

Welcome to the second week of Lent! There is no better way to grow in our faith, or in our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, than to read His Word every day. Romans 10:17 says, “…faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” As we read the book of John, we get to know who Jesus Christ is. We find out He is the Bread of Life (chapter 6) and He is the Living Water (chapter 4). When we eat this bread and drink His Living Water, we will never be thirsty again. Jesus says, “The water I give (you) will become in (you) a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14).

Are you hungry? Are you thirsty? Have you been trying to fill the void in your life with the pleasures of this world or with material possessions that will rot and rust? God’s Word says: “…man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD” (Deuteronomy 8:3). Fill your mind daily with the Word of God. Read your Bible, listen to sermons and biblical podcasts, and play praise and worship music as you walk through your day. Your faith in Christ will surely grow!

The things of this Earth will pass away but Jesus Christ and his kingdom will last forever. The things of God are the things that matter in this life. I encourage you to turn to Jesus. Learn to abide in Him and His Word. Drink His living water and you will never be thirsty again.

With love and prayers,

“She was willing to settle for less. Jesus wanted to give her more. While she was happy with temporal satisfaction— a drink of tepid water from a well in the desert— Jesus longed for her to experience eternal joy.” Liz Curtis Higgs
