“Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” 1 Corinthians 13:8

Hello, Help Club Mamas!

Homemaking does not often come easily, but nothing of value ever does. What you are doing each day is not busywork; it’s eternal investment. The secret to having our efforts stand the test of time is to do everything through God’s love. In fact, the only homemaking that matters is that done in love, not perfection, because, “Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away” (1 Corinthians 13:8).

First on your checklist every morning before the laundry, the breakfast, or the rest, meet with Jesus. He wants to pour into you, and show you what really matters for the day. He will give you your marching orders! Take a deep breath—it will all get done eventually. One day your little mess makers will be gone, but your efforts will last.

God has given you everything you need to be the very homemaker your family needs. You have eyes that see the need and hands that work until it’s done. You have a vision to train and a heart that disciples. You have a talent to bring beauty to each room and warmth for a soft landing. You have a humility that lets go of self, and a confidence which does not bother to compare. You have a faith that says “no way” to fear and knees that know when it’s time to kneel. You have a sound mind to make it all work and a determination to do it all again. Be certain in your heart that He sees it all—every crumb swept, face washed, toy bin put back together, and every candle lit. He is especially pleased when you do it all for Him.

Mother, you are the beautifier of your home; the very fragrance of Christ’s love in which your family may continually indulge. May I challenge you to recognize that the day-in and day-out duties of wife, mother, teacher, and keeper are not only benefiting your family, but they are also making you into the woman God destined you to be? As you faithfully serve and beautify, you are being refined—chiseled into the very image of love.

Love and Blessings,

“This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God’s way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness.” Elisabeth Elliot
