Remind Yourself to Trust

Just as we used the double-edged sword of Scripture to fight fear, we are going to use Scripture to encourage ourselves to trust God. These are some of my favorite verses about trust, worship, rest, and the hope we have in God. Put them up somewhere that you will see them frequently for some Holy Spirit motivation!

Proverbs 3:5-6Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Philippians 4:4-7 “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again; Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:13 “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

Psalm 28:6-7 “Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.”

Psalm 62:1-2 “My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”

Psalm 94:18-19 “When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.”

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Prayer for Today: Father, thank you for Your words of life to us. Help us to use them in a way in which they become a part of our identity, so we can use them to overcome. Thank you for Your great love for us, Your provision for us, and Your victory for us. We love You. Amen!

  5. Linda, I can totally relate to your story. I have been there and experienced all these emotions, fears, and trials. My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer on 7/13/18. It had already metastasized to his bone and lymph nodes when we found it. We went through chemo and it kept spreading.. lungs, thyroid and finally brain. He passed away on 7/5/19. I have experienced ALOT of different fears this year. We had just adopted 2 children in May of 18. I am now 51 with 3 daughters at home.. 5, 16 and 19. I also have an adopted son who is 22. My step sons are 34 and 36. I am also blessed with 3 grandsons, 10, 7 and 5. I am now the matriarch of the family.

God has a plan. I do not like to be alone . I am blessed to have adopted these girls who are here with me.

My husband had a very strong faith. He said from the beginning, why not me? I am ready for whatever God has planned. I find so much peace in that and knowing that he is now healed and walking the streets of Gold!!

I will continue to pray for you and your family. The journey is not easy, but with God by your side, it is bearable. He used my husband to the end. He would take his nurses prayer cards and scripture cards at each visit. He continued to minister to everyone that visited him. And now he is our Angel.

    1. Hi Janna, Thank you for your heartfelt response and for sharing your story. I just read it to my husband, and we prayed for you this morning. We were so touched. We thanked God for your husband and who he was. We thanked God that he stayed so faithful to the end. And we prayed that God would give you so much grace — grace to love your family well, to live with freedom, abundance, and so much joy. We prayed that God would meet you and fill the empty spaces of your heart and that His joy would be your strength. We prayed that He would continue to increase your faith and dispel the lie of fear in your life as you walk your journey. And we prayed that He would provide you with exceedingly more than you can ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20). Know that you and your sweet family are in our prayers not just today, but also going forward. And know that God sees you and loves you so much!
