Resurrection Rolls

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” Matthew 28:6

Here is a fun and tangible way to teach your children about the Resurrection. These are a wonderful treat for Easter Saturday or Resurrection Sunday.

Ingredients:
8 large marshmallows
1/2 stick of butter, melted

Crescent Roll Dough

2 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
2. Read John 19:38-42 to your children. Explain to them what each ingredient represents.
• The marshmallow represents Jesus, white and pure because he was without sin.
• The crescent dough represents the linen cloth they wrapped Jesus in.
• The butter is like the embalming oils.
• The cinnamon and sugar are like the spices they used to prepare his body for burial.

3. Spread out the crescent dough according to package directions. Melt the butter. Mix the cinnamon and sugar in a shallow bowl. Dip a marshmallow in the butter. Roll it in the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Place the marshmallow in the triangle of dough and wrap the marshmallow completely. Pinch the dough to make sure it is sealed. Dip it in the butter again to keep it from sticking to the pan.

4. Place the rolls in a muffin tin. Put the rolls in the oven, which represents the tomb, and bake for 11-13 minutes.

5. While they are baking, read John 20:1-18.

6. Open the tomb, and immediately remove the rolls from the pan to prevent them from sticking to the pan.

7. When they are cool, let your children discover what happened to the marshmallows.
