The Ministry of a Christian Stepmom- Companion Guide

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”~Exodus 14:14

Recently, one of my friends said something that really struck a chord deep within me. She said, “As a stepmom, you need to realize you’re stepping into the line of fire.” Many times over the last few years, I have felt just that.  I have been pulled in so many different directions.  I have found myself frustrated with the times I have given my advice, and it fell on deaf ears.  There have been so many things that have worn me down: the court battles, the tears, and the bickering.  It’s exhausting.

However, God helps me to hold on to the good things that have happened throughout the years: when my stepdaughter tells me that she loves me, when she asks for advice or just randomly hugs me, or when her mom thanks me for something I did.  I hold on to these moments and make myself remember that God loves me and is in charge of my life and the life of my family.  We need only to be still and let Him fight our battles for us.  He can mend hearts. We can choose to love unconditionally and let Him work things out for His good  (Romans 8:28).  Our God can work miracles.

So mamas, when you’re in the storm and seem to be just barely making it, remember how much God loves you and how much he wants your family to win. He does see you. He wants good things for you.  Lean into Him and find rest.  Take a moment today to recognize how hard you’ve been working and tell yourself that you are doing a great job.  Rest and let God help you. He will fight your battles.  You are loved, and you matter so much!

🙏 Pray with me-

Lord Jesus, show me the areas of life in my family where I need to release to You.  Help me to see any areas of my life where I am not giving You control.  Help me to let go and trust that You will work.  Help me to love and humbly serve all of my children, biological and bonus kids, with the love of Christ.  Fill me up with unconditional love for my family in increasing measure.  In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.”
