Thoughts-Mom Tips Week 1

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” Phil 4:8.

The Mom Tips are meant to enhance your life and role as a Christian wife, mom, discipler of your children, homemaker, and friend.

Pray about which ideas to try and keep this list on your fridge all week. Check them off as you accomplish them. Complete all of the Mom Tips or pick one to finish. We all are in different stages of our lives. You do you!

Do what you can and celebrate the fact that you added something new to enhance your life!

The Wise Woman Builds Her Spirit:

Begin your journey learning to think true thoughts with the following exercises:

  • Record a few Bible verses on your phone that speak truth to the lies you have been thinking. For example: If you feel like you can never be free from the sins of your past and you will never change your bad habits, record 1 Corinthians 5:17 to remind you that you are a NEW creation and with God, all things are possible, and you can have lasting change in your life.
  • Listen to your recording four times this week.

Next, do this exercise three days this week when you wake up to help you to start your day on the right foot:

  • Think of three things that you are thankful for.
  • Determine each day that you are going to be joyful and content.
  • Remind yourself that you are strong! Ask God to help you to “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10

The Wise Woman Loves Her Husband:

  • Prayerfully pray and ask God to show you how to love your husband in a way he feels loved. Find out what his love language is. If you haven’t already done so, read the book, “The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate” by Gary D. Chapman.
  • Write his love language here:_____________________________________________
  • Do something this week to show your husband you love him in the way he feels loved.
  • Write it here:________________________________________________________.

The Wise Woman Loves Her Children:  

  • Read the “The 5 Love Languages of Children” by Gary D. Chapman.
  • Prayerfully consider which love language accurately describes each of your children.
  • Write each of your children’s love languages here:_____________________________________________________________________
  • Show each of them love this week in a way they feel loved. Write what you did and their responses in your journal.

The Wise Woman Cares For Her Home: 

  • Do the “5 o’clock pick-up” 4 days this week. Put on fun music, set a timer for 15 minutes, and you and your children go through all the main living areas and pick up everything everywhere. Give each of your children a basket to put their things in and then have them put it all away. Stop after 15 minutes.

  • I love this idea from “The Fly Lady.” Before you go to bed for four nights this week, make sure your sink is clean. Get all of the dishes washed or in the dishwasher. Turn the dishwasher on. When you wake up in the morning, rejoice knowing that your dishes are put away, and you are ready for your day!

  1. I really enjoyed reading these mom tips and have found them extremely helpful! I have not read either of the Five Love Launguages books so I will be looking into getting them both in the future! I am so blessed to be able to of joined this group and am excited to really dive into these helpful tips! Thank you Deb!

  2. These are such great and powerful tools to take control of our thoughts!!
    I love these tips!

    One thing is that when I printed them, they came out teeny tiny. I think I’d rather have 2 pages and be able to read them at a glance than small font 🙂 Or I may be getting old! Ha!

  3. Great mom tips this week! I especially love the one about thinking of three things we are thankful for in the morning and the verse in Ephesians you chose. For me, it is very powerful to say certain verses out loud. I am all about speaking verses over my day. I think it is an integral tool also in our battle for our thoughts (the theme this week) and to fight against Satan. 🙂
