Contemplative Journey

Station 3: Forgiveness Station

Instructions: Is there anyone who you need to forgive? Maybe there are multiple people. Maybe you need to forgive yourself. Maybe you even need to forgive God. Don’t overlook those last two suggestions! Search your heart and ask Holy Spirit to help you identify people that you need to forgive. Like all of His directives, this is a practice that God commands us to do for our good. Forgiveness can cause you to feel spiritually stuck, unable to hear God’s voice clearly, and can even make your body sick and diseased. God is a good Father, and He wants us to walk in freedom and health, living in the present and facing forward to the future (not the past!), ready to receive and walk in all that He has for us. Today is the day to forgive all those who have hurt you, disappointed you, rejected you, or otherwise caused offense in your life. Ask Holy Spirit who you need to forgive. As He reveals the people, write down their names. It can feel so difficult to do this, so ask God to help you to forgive them sincerely from your heart. He will help you! Forgive and release these people in Jesus’ name. Feel God’s freedom and pleasure wash over you! You have just taken a major and difficult step in your walk with God. Ask God to show you how to walk in this freedom and to guard your heart from any offense trying to creep back in. **Also, please note that if these people are unsafe and likely to hurt or abuse you again, you do not need to enter back into relationship with them. Forgiveness is commanded, but continued relationship is not. Consult Holy Spirit for His wisdom and instructions to navigate what future relationship should look like for you.
