What Will Jesus Find This Christmas?

“You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!” See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.” Isaiah 40:9-10

How is your heart this December, mama, and where is your hope coming from? This time of year can be lonely, stressful, and filled with uncertainty. Our souls thirst for peace, and a breakthrough. I remember a Christmas years ago where my spirit was discouraged.  My family had experienced severe hurt and our souls were empty. Truthfully, what needed to happen was a turning toward Jesus and His supernatural peace and hope. I remember reading this quote back then and it truly shifted my thinking:

“The only people whose souls can truly magnify the Lord are…people who acknowledge their lowly estate and are overwhelmed by the coming of the magnificent God.” – John Piper.

All of us are lowly and wayward without God. We cannot magnify Him to the world, let alone our children, until we recognize that hard truth. It is hard because our natural tendency is to focus on our circumstances. We worry, we fear the unknown, and we let anxiety run rampant in our minds. However, as Christians, our hope is REAL. The Lord is coming! And He is powerful and capable of bringing peace and joy with Him.

Dear friends, we all need to be in awe of what God has done. We live in a fallen world and hardships will happen, but can you commit to re-centering and re-focusing on the Lord in the midst of it all? Jesus is coming and while we honor advent this month, I have been thinking about His Kingdom and how we interact with Him. When Jesus comes to meet us in our hurt and confusion, what will He find? A committed heart? A warm home? A family that is thankful and content? I yearn for Jesus to enter into my heart, my husband and children’s hearts, and our home, like an old friend this Christmas.

Love,
