15/5 Challenge Day 18

Matthew 16:21

“From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”

What stands out about this verse today is that Jesus wore a heavy burden. Each day leading up to his resurrection, He knew. He knew it would be so painful, that he would suffer and eventually die. I can’t imagine living with this weight day by day! It’s unfathomable. At any time He could have decided to pass the cup; to not bear the burden and to let us suffer the price for our own sinfulness. However, we serve a gracious God! He knew the only way for us to be with Him was for Him to suffer along this road and to rise in victory proclaiming He was the One true God.

Are you having a hard time today, mama? Are you suffering in some way? Stay the course. Jesus’ life was a living, breathing example to us and story after story is written in God’s word to encourage us to have perseverance even though it’s hard. Take courage, today!
