Stepping into a New Beginning

“Direct my steps by Your word, And let no iniquity have dominion over me.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:133‬ ‭NKJV

How many of you remember the story of Gideon? It is a powerful story of God’s provision and victory.  God used a brave leader and a mere 300 men to defeat the large army of Midianites.  Go back a little further in the story to the part where Gideon asks God for confirmation if he was going to win the battle (Judges 6:36-40).  Gideon places a fleece on the ground for the answer -if it was wet with dew and the ground was dry then He would know God was going to save them.  The next morning, the Lord soaked the remnant so much it filled a bowl with water, but the land remained dry.  Then Gideon asked God for clarity and put the fleece out again.  This time if the fleece was dry and the ground was wet, Gideon would have confidence they would win the battle.  God answered with a dry fleece. The story doesn’t end there- Gideon goes off to war in assurance but is tested of his faith when God strips him of 31,700 men. Gideon continues to trust God to do what He said he would do even with a much smaller army of 300 men 😳.  Now that is believing God when things don’t look like they should in the natural!

Did you know that God still speaks to his people today? I had a Gideon moment myself this past June. Recently, my family and I moved from Colorado to Texas.  It was a hard move with lots of emotions. The decision to move didn’t come right away….we started praying as far back as January.  My husband is very spirit-filled and heard the Lord tell him we were to move to Texas.  Through prayer and confirmation from other godly and prophetic acquaintances, my husband was ready and willing to go. I on the other hand had reservations, it was hard to be excited about changing local and moving away from the things, people, and ministry that I loved and had been involved in.  I wanted to obey God and even my husband but needed MORE confirmation. I wanted to hear from God myself on this weighty decision.  So, I asked God to give me clarity by a certain day.

I started praying and occasionally fasting leading up to this day which happened to be on a Sunday.  That morning at church, during the sermon, I felt the Lord say to me that after the service I was supposed to turn around and ask the person sitting right behind me for the word I was waiting for.

She was someone I had never met before and when I boldly told her she was going to share a word with me- she simply said, “ok then let’s pray!” She proceeded to tell me (again I did not know her and did not tell her my story) that I was going to step into a new beginning and that it was going to be good, but even better than good!  She said I was going to take a leap!  She proceeded to tell me that I needed to be strong, to stand on God’s promises, to support my husband and that God would usher me into what he had for me.  She also told me that God had my future home for me.

I could not deny what God was saying, especially since He spoke to me on my terms- kinda like Gideon’s fleece.  I had to let go of the things I was holding onto and trust God for our future.  I had to take steps of faith!

“Direct my steps by Your word, And let no iniquity have dominion over me.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:133‬ ‭NKJV

Let me tell you- moving in this market- the part about God having our home for us REALLY gave us peace over and over again.  We finally found our house 9 days before our truck was coming to be packed up!  It’s been 4 weeks since our move and I am daily trusting God to direct my steps.  I have a renewed confidence that I can hear God’s voice for myself.

Do you know that God wants to speak to you too!  Ask Him to speak to you and pray for ears to hear what He is saying.  He speaks differently of course and certainly uses modern day prophets like Lisa, pastors, Bible studies, podcasts & prayer but can also talk to us in a still small voice, in nature, through a friend, spouse, child and undoubtedly through scripture!

God DOES speak to his beloved and wants very much for us to have communion with Him!  Test Him in this and share below how God has been talking to you!
