Thanksgiving Is a Time of Reflected Blessings

  • Call your prayer partner for your 10-minute prayer call. Keep it short but meaningful. Pray for your Thanksgiving week—for all of your preparations and interactions with your family and friends to be blessed.
  • Welcome, daughter of the Most High God! Gather your favorite beverage, your journal, and your Bible, sit at the feet of our mighty God and soak in what He has for your heart today.
  • Read Psalm 118, and write Psalm 118:24 in your journal.

Thanksgiving Is a Time of Reflected Blessings

As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, stop for a moment and ponder the blessings the Lord has given you this year. Surely, there were changes and challenges too, but let’s focus on the blessings.

Our blessings this year came in the form of a job transfer. My teenagers and I chose to stay in Florida while my husband worked out of state for the majority of the year. And just as we were all to reunite in another state, he received a different job offer in Florida. Even though this job offered less money, the other opportunities—like being 10 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico—far outweighed the loss of income. Now, I do not take enough time to enjoy this great blessing, but on occasion, it is wonderful to drive out to the ocean and watch the waves in the early morning or at sunset and to soak in God’s amazing creation. Sometimes God changes things to bring greater blessings. Is there something that was challenging in your life this year that has brought blessings?

The song ”This is the Day” by Les Garrett comes to mind as I think about the blessings God has brought this year. I love the second verse that reminds us that we are the sons and daughters of the living God, Creator of the universe! Let’s rejoice that God chose each of us to be His!

This is the Day
This is the day, this is the day.
That the Lord has made, that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice, we will rejoice,
And be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day
That the Lord has made.

We are the sons, we are the sons,
Of the living God, of the living God.
We will rejoice, we will rejoice,
And be glad in Him, and be glad in Him.
We are the sons of the living God.
We will rejoice and be glad in Him.
We are the sons, we are the sons
Of the living God.

Take a few moments this morning and think of the blessings that have come from your challenges this year.

Blessings and Love,

Pam

Questions to Ponder

  • Was there something that was challenging this year in your life that has brought blessings?

Faith-Filled Ideas

Write in your journal a change or challenge God brought this year.

Now take some time to think about and write the blessings that have come from this change or challenge. If there is not a blessing yet, think of what the blessing or blessings could be.

Lastly, think of a way you can be a blessing today. How can you bless someone in your sphere of influence? It could be your husband, your children, or a simple text to a friend letting them know you are thinking about them and wishing them a wonderful day.
