We Get to Participate in His Divine Nature!

“Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.” 2 Peter 1:4 (emphasis mine)

“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (emphasis mine)

This morning, as I was doing my Thanksgiving, Praise, and Worship segment of The Help Club for Moms Companion Guide, I had such a powerful and exciting revelation from the Holy Spirit. You see, as I was praising God for His amazing attributes, it occurred to me that I am constantly being transformed into His likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18). So when I praise Him for one of His amazing attributes, I also get to thank Him for how that attribute is being developed in me as I am being changed into His likeness.

Wow! What a mind-blowing revelation! And we know that when God promises us something, it WILL come to pass. With every passing day, we are becoming more like Him. Sometimes, the process may seem like we are taking one step forward and two steps back, but truly, it is happening! You can trust the process, because you can trust its Originator. He is fully trustworthy and 100 percent faithful (Hebrews 10:23, Philippians 1:6).

You see, when we believed in Jesus and accepted His sacrifice and resurrection for us, our old selves died with Him on the cross. Our new selves were resurrected fully into new life (2 Corinthians 5:17). He placed us into Christ and Christ into us so that we would be like Him (Galatians 2:20, 2 Corinthians 5:21) and so that we could experience every part of His nature. 2 Peter 1:4 declares that “He has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature.” Did you catch that? Let that sink in for a moment. We get to participate in and experience God’s divine nature! And that is not only a promise reserved for heaven. That is a promise for NOW!

As you praise Him today, add a statement of thanksgiving to the end of your praise. For example you might say, “I praise you Lord, that you are victorious over everything, and that because I am your daughter, I get to be more than a conqueror in all things through You (Romans 8:37);” or “I praise you Lord that you are righteous, and through You, I am the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 6:21);” or “I praise you Lord, that you are compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, and that through You, I am actively becoming all of these things (Psalm 86:15).” Mama, rejoice! There is so much good in God, and YOU are ever being transformed into His likeness!

Love,

Linda
