You Have Already Overcome!

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

I don’t know about you, friend, but I feel like I have been experiencing so much traffic in my soul from what is going on around me. I am being bombarded with the realities of life on this earth and of human nature, the unprecedented happenings and implications of this time, and the difficult decisions of life right now. And you know what? It’s not pleasant. I’m sure it isn’t for you either. But I want to share with you a beautiful encouragement straight from the heart of God.

He woke me up in the middle of the night with 1 John 4:4b resounding in my spirit, “The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” And then God gave me this vivid illustration. I want you to take a minute to envision and experience what He showed me. 1 John 4:4 is like the pre-game locker room pep talk. Our coach happens to be none other than Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith. As we gather in the locker room, shoulder-to-shoulder with each other, we surround our coach and lean in to hear what He has to say. Now, like all coaches, our coach has been-there-done-that. He understands everything that we are going through: all the pre-game jitters, the butterflies in our stomachs, the anticipation of the challenge, and the hope of victory, for He was once a player too. He understands the feelings, and He knows that out there, on the field, it will be a fight for us. He knows that the audience is
mixed — there are those who are for us and those who are against us. He knows the stakes are high and so are our emotions.

As we listen, this verse is what He says to us, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” As He declares this over us, you can feel the faith rising in the room. Renewed confidence, boldness, excitement, and anticipation surges through our veins. We have been prepared “for such a time as this!” (Esther 4:14) Our faith, which is “of greater worth than gold” (1 Peter 1:7), provides us with a guaranteed victory! We have already overcome! As the truth of this verse begins to strengthen us, we repeat it in unison, chanting it louder and louder. Our faith rises like a great tidal wave within us until we all, as one, burst out of the locker room and spill out onto the field with a thundering roar of victory: “Greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world!” You see, we are now the embodiment of this verse: we have taken it in, we have digested it, and we have become it. It is now our reality; we are wholly and utterly convinced. WE ARE OVERCOMERS!!!

Friend, do you feel it? Do you feel the excitement, the confidence, the anticipation, and the complete invincibility of who you are? Of whose you are? The God you serve is above every circumstance, and He will accomplish His plans for you and through you. You see, dear one, no matter the pressures of life, no matter how bad it looks, repeat this verse to yourself and watch as you take it in and it becomes your true reality. You are on the right side! You are an overcomer!

With Love,

Linda

Pray with Me:

Lord, thank you that You are within us, and because of that, we will always overcome. Thank you, Jesus, that you have already provided this victory for us!
