In ALL Things

“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT

Be thankful in ALL circumstances. ALL? Surely, there are a few exceptions…right? Well, Sister, I have looked, and no, to my dismay, there are not any exceptions. Bummer right? Because I really don’t feel thankful all the time and I can give you a million reasons as to why!

But my million reasons why, do not compare to just this one command from His Word. When He says “all”, He means ALL… I didn’t even have to go to dictionary.com to make sure I fully understood what He meant. All means all.

What I have come to learn is that when I do choose to give thanks, even when I don’t feel like it, God blesses me, He gives me His peace and He opens my eyes to a new perspective on whatever the situation may be that I would rather complain about than give thanks for. He tells us again in Ephesians “always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20)

Give thanks in all circumstances and for everything. If I can just be honest with you, this is really hard for me to do sometimes.  I tend to complain first and then give thanks for my situation.  Life is just so overwhelming and busy sometimes that I just feel like I have the right to complain and vent! Can you relate?

Sister, our job is to turn to the Father and give thanks to Him for everything. The good, the bad, and even the things we don’t think are fair…everything.

This holiday season, I am choosing to be more mindful of giving thanks.  I am choosing to work on resetting my default response from complaining to thanking! In all things. Would you join me?! I know we will all be so grateful that we did.

🙏 Pray with me-

Lord, I pray for the mama who feels overwhelmed today. I pray that as she wants to complain about the situation that she is in, she would pause and give thanks instead. That she would turn her focus to You instead of her situation. I thank you for giving Her Your peace and perspective.

We love You Jesus! In Your name, we pray, Amen!
