Love Day Party

Love Day Party

Are you looking for fun, meaningful ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your children? Grab some of these ideas and put together a “Love Day Party” of your own!

Don’t worry so much about Pinterest-worthy decorations and food: the purpose of this celebration is to draw the members of your family close together, encourage each other, and communicate the love of Jesus!

1. Begin the party by reading 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 to your children. The Message version of the Bible offers an easy-to-understand paraphrase for young children if you’d prefer. Discuss how to apply the verses with your children.

2. In advance, write several qualities or traits you love about your children on slips of paper. Stick these papers into balloons and then inflate and tie them. At the party, let your children get creative by popping their balloons and reading your little love messages to them.

3. Take time to tell your kids who the Lord has created them to be; speak encouragement and promise into their lives today!

4. Place several paper hearts at each person’s seat. Have each child write one thing he loves about each sibling. Encourage them to appreciate each other’s differences. Read these aloud and share the love!

5. Do a family-building activity together. Choose a fun board game, go on a walk together, or play a rousing game of hide and seek. Do something fun! I googled “Valentine’s Day minute-to-win-it games” and found a lot of inspiration to have a fun parents-against-kids competition!

6. While you are all together, think of ways you can spread the love of Christ to others around you. Maybe you make cards for friends, bake a treat
for an elderly neighbor, or deliver a special gift to a grandparent. Brainstorm a list, and be sure to try one or two of the ideas.

7. Close your party with prayer. Thank the Lord for your family members, and praise Him for the incomprehensible love He has lavished on us! He is the author of love, and the One we should be celebrating this Valentine’s Day!
