Mom To Mom with Deb

“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)

Dearest Mama,

Oh, how I love this time of year—especially Holy Week, the week before Easter Sunday. I love taking extra time during Lent to read the Bible and ponder the life of Jesus and His sacrifice for us all. I also love reading the Word of God throughout the year because it
strengthens my faith and helps me live my life for Jesus every day.

Where would we be without the Word of God and the power that it brings to us as believers? God’s Word is “…a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path” (Psalm 119:105 NLT). When we develop a habit of reading the Bible each day, even if it’s only for 15 minutes, things begin to change in our lives. Since God’s Word is living and active, it has the power to guide us through every issue we may encounter each day.

I remember when I committed to spending time with God daily. I only had 15-30 minutes to spare first thing in the morning, and had to get up earlier to do it, but it made all the difference in my life! When I became a Christian, I was so broken from my past and desperately wanted a whole new life. Through the habit of reading the Bible, journaling, and praying for my day, God has guided me in how to live my life as a daughter of the King. He has taught me how to be the woman, wife, and mom God wants me to be, how to establish a Christian home with my husband, and how to disciple my children to know and love Jesus.

Without the influence of the Scriptures in my life and the life of my family, I would not be who I am and my children would not be who they are today. I would have lacked the wisdom to know how to make the daily decisions on how to live my life for Christ and how to be a godly wife and mom, and how to raise up godly children.

How about you, Mama? Do you need the light from Scripture on your path? Are you struggling knowing how to raise your children up as soldiers of Christ, different from the world? Choose today to spend time with God each day to get your “marching orders”—your daily wisdom, power, and peace.

I’m praying for you, dear sister!

Love in Him,

“Sharper than any double-edged sword.’ A sword with two edges has no blunt side; it cuts both this way and that. The Word of God is edge all over. It is alive in every part, and in every part keen to cut the conscience and wound the heart. Depend on it: not a verse in the Bible is superfluous or a chapter that is useless.” Charles Spurgeon
