Mom To Mom with Heather: Summer of Staying Week Four

Hello Friends!

Lately, I’ve been pondering what it means to be present with my children. I am a stay-at-home mom, so that seems easy since I am with them a lot. However, they need much more than my physical presence; they need my attention and my heart. They need me to fight for them when they push me away (not literally fight, but maybe take them out for ice cream when I can barely stand to be around them). They need to see the love I feel from their sweet words and displays of affection as well as the joy I get from watching them learn and grow.

Summer provides us with plenty of opportunities to feed into our kids’ hearts: picnics at the park, dollar movies, afternoons at the pool, planting gardens. Will you seize those opportunities to strengthen your relationships with your children? No pressure or Pinterest-perfect expectations— just stick around and engage in life with them. Model God’s love for His children by showing that you adore them simply because they’re yours. All the naughtiness and negativity will eventually fall away, and all the good behavior and sweetness is just icing on the cake.

This week, we will give some ideas on how to be present with your kids and take advantage of the time you have with them. I pray these studies are a blessing to you and your families, drawing your hearts closer to each other and to God!

Blessings and love,
