“You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” – Acts 1:8ab
Growing up, I believed in the gifts of the Holy Spirit but I thought they were only for special believers on TV or pastors in front of the church. I wanted to be used by God and experience the Holy Spirit but often felt that I wasn’t a good enough Christian for the Holy Spirit to use me. As I’ve studied the scripture, I’ve found my childhood beliefs to be false. The gift of the Holy Spirit isn’t just for special believers, but for EVERY follower of Christ. And it’s not just a gift that is available to those who want it, but a gift that God wants every believer to have.
Why does God want us to have the Holy Spirit in our lives? Because God wants us to overcome the works of the enemy and He doesn’t want us to do it in our own strength. God wants to help us overcome every difficulty we face and sent the Holy Spirit to fill us with His supernatural power and ability to overcome. Jesus told His disciples in John 14 that he would not leave them orphans, but He would send the Holy Spirit to help them. God never intended for them to face their future on their own and in their own strength. Jesus made sure His followers would have the help they needed for every situation, through the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Sweet Sister, are you struggling to overcome? Do you need help? Don’t try to overcome in your own strength! Ask God to fill you with the gift of the Holy Spirit and receive His supernatural power and help to overcome.
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He (God) who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him (Jesus), graciously give us all things? – Romans 8:31-32
🙏 Pray with me-
Heavenly Father we thank You for the free gift of the Holy Spirit! I pray for every mama who believes falsely like I used to (that she isn’t special enough to receive the gifts of the Spirit). I pray against those lies and ask that You would give her fresh revelation of Your goodness and love. I pray she will ask & receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and become an Overcomer!
