Trust, Dwell, Enjoy, and Delight: Four Words to Help us Cope Right Now

“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart,” – Psalm 37:3-4.

Trust, dwell, enjoy, and delight: these words are all verbs for us as wives and mothers to act on, especially now.

Our days at home with our families can feel extremely overwhelming.

Moments, like making all the meals, cleaning up after the meals, wiping faces, refereeing sibling squabbles, picking up toys, homeschooling, and now, living within the anxiety of a pandemic and the boundaries of a shelter-in-place can cause us, mamas, to lose our direction, passion, and even our joy. But we can remember this powerful truth today: when we make the Lord the object of our trust and delight spending time in His presence and reveling in His character, our deepest heart’s desires gradually align themselves with His own!

The Lord only needs a small amount of us to transform our hearts. Mamas, does your heart need to be softened toward your husband and children today?

Let’s go back to our action verbs. Today, choose to trust, dwell, enjoy, and delight. Make the decision to give the Lord 15 minutes of your day. Open up your Bible and allow Him to bring you joy and happiness in the mundane moments of your day.

And if you need more encouragement during this challenging season, be sure to print out the Help Club for Moms “Quarantine Survival Packet.” It will point you toward the Lord and his Word while filling you up with inspiration for loving your husband and your children well during this season, as well as offering fun ideas to do with your kids as you are all stuck at home. We pray the Lord encourages as you read. We are praying for you, mama!
