Distracted Prayer

but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!”  ~ Psalm 66:19-20

I am so grateful that we can talk to God at any moment of any day. When I first became a mama 18 months ago (I am still new… all the tips are welcomed ❣️) there was a lot of stillness when my son slept. I was able to hold him, look at him and spend the sweetest time in prayer. Well, fast forward to my now turbo charged, terrible napper 18 month old little guy and that is not my current situation anymore!

I went through a season of feeling extremely guilty for not being able to dedicate as much time as I would like to my prayer & quiet time with the Lord.  But out of His overwhelming goodness and grace the Lord revealed to me that I can STILL have that sweet time with Him.

Now we spend A LOT of time playing outside. While I am chasing my son around our yard I often pause and look at the beauty all around me and the miracle of my son’s life right in front of me! I am able to thank God and talk to Him right in the middle of my backyard!  Sometimes, it’s while I am doing the fifth sink full of dishes for the day.

God has shifted my view of prayer. He showed me that what I was seeing as distracted prayer could be turned into the sweetest time of prayer if I just stopped feeling guilty and let myself see the beautiful moments that were all around me.

Prayer can look different in every season of life. I am so thankful for a God that hears our prayers, that wants to talk to us and that loves us so deeply.

Mama, He hears us when we are chasing our kids, He hears us when we are doing the dishes, and He hears us when we are crying out in the midst of sheer exhaustion.  He doesn’t reject us or withhold His love for us when we don’t give Him the still moments we used to have more of. How beautiful. How powerful. How kind our Father is.

Mama, He loves you SO much and He hears you. So run through your yard, chase that baby and know that your Father is right there with you. Remember in the midst of our busy days we can choose to “Rejoice always,  pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16- 18)

🙏 Pray with me-

Lord, I pray right now for the mama who feels overwhelmed or guilty for not spending time with you. I pray that You will show her Your beauty all around her, and Your unconditional love for her. I pray that You will help her to know that she can come to You and talk to you anytime of the day, whether it’s quiet or crazy. That she can come to You and find You waiting with arms wide open for her.
