Prayers for a Mother’s Day: A Prayer for My Marriage

“Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.” Proverbs 5:18 NLT

Mama, your husband needs to know you not only love him but also enjoy your friendship with him. Men need to feel like they have a wife who is not only loving and kind but is also fun.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane back to the time when you and your husband were dating…

I can imagine that the two of you had fun together: You probably enjoyed your husband’s company and laughed at his jokes; I bet you praised him for things he did well and helped boost his confidence; I’m sure the two of you made time to do fun things together, and you were into what he was interested in- hobbies, sports teams, etc., and you probably loved making out with him.

So, I have a question for you. Where has that girl gone?

You might say: “Ugh,” she is exhausted from all the chores and the kids, and she doesn’t feel like her husband loves her because he doesn’t treat her like he used to. Maybe he doesn’t help out around the house, or he acts grumpy sometimes.

Dear one, I totally get it. I remember those days with children in the home and how tiring and stressful life felt, and how hard it was just to get some alone time with my husband. My husband and I were often simply getting by.

But GOD!

I remember asking God to bless my marriage and make it more fun. He led me to start praying for my marriage more and asking Him to help me be a source of joy to my husband, Randy. So I began to pray this simple prayer that yielded big results:

Pray this prayer with me…

“Lord, help me to be a source of joy to my husband. Let him ‘Rejoice with the wife of his youth.’ Keep us occupied with gladness of heart.”

God is so good! He taught me how to let things go so I could become a more joyful wife. Friend, God will work in your marriage and help you become a more joy-filled wife. Don’t try to change your husband, just ask God to change you, and you will be blown away by the changes in your marriage. With God, all things are possible!

I’m praying for you, dear one!

With much love,
