There is Joy in the Waiting

“But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.”~ ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭5:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There is Joy in the Waiting

Have you ever found yourself in a waiting period? That is exactly where I am at the moment. I have poured out my heart to Jesus over and over again with regard to the same circumstance, but I am still waiting for answers. I am confident that He hears my prayers and is working in my life. I even have a peace about whatever His answer might be.

Sometimes the waiting is the hardest part. We live in a society that has grown accustomed to wanting something and receiving it instantly. So when Jesus’s answer is to wait, especially for an extended period of time, it can be discouraging. If we’re not careful, we can let our happenings determine our happiness and allow the devil to sneak in and steal our joy.

Sweet Sister, I have learned that perspective is everything in protecting our joy. We must take our eyes off our circumstances and focus them squarely on Jesus. We need to thank Him for all that He has done, is doing, and will do in our lives – resting in the truth that God makes no mistakes. Rejoice in the here and now, leaving tomorrow in His hands. When we look for the good in the waiting and in our circumstances, that is when we will see how truly awesome our God is.

Pray with me.

Father God, thank you for working in my heart and in my life. Help me to see you at work in the good times and the bad, always remembering that your ways are higher than mine and your thoughts are greater than mine. I wholly trust your plan for my life and know that this waiting period you’ve placed me in is for my good because all things work together for the good of those who love you. Amen.
