“And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.”~Luke 1:28-31 KJV
Sweet Mom, can you imagine what it must have been like for Mary to learn that she would be entrusted with carrying and caring for the only Son of God? In Luke 1:28-31, the Bible tells us she was troubled upon learning this news and began pondering what it meant. The angel told Mary that she was highly favoured, blessed among women, and to fear not that she had found favor with God.
After reading these verses, I couldn’t help but ask myself if I have God’s favor upon my life, and if not, how could I change that? Mary lived a life that found her in the Father’s favor, and it allowed her to be used by God in a mighty supernatural way.
What exactly is favor? According to Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary, favor is “to regard with kindness; to support; to aid or have the disposition to aid, or to wish success to; to be propitious to; to countenance; to befriend; to encourage.”
Oh, to think of having favor with God himself! I want that! I want God to befriend me, show me grace and mercy, support, aid, and encourage me in all areas of my life! I desire God to examine my heart and look upon my life favorably, just as he did Mary’s!

Sweet Mom, we can be found in the Father’s favor, just as Mary was! As we seek after God and strive to be like His son Jesus day by day, we will cultivate a life that extends mercy to ourselves and others, we will uphold truth in accordance with His Word, and we will hear from the Holy Spirit and keep His ways (we will inevitably make mistakes but then ask forgiveness and continue to press forward, seeking good in all aspects of life). Sisters, the favor of God is within our reach! 🙌
